Chronic Pain Client Success Stories

CHRONIC BACK PAIN

PRESENTATION

  • Thomas, 25, had debilitating back pain for over 5 years

  • He was continuously on a high dose pain medication and unable to work

  • A prior spine surgery made the pain worse, he was considering another one

  • Before going under the knife again, he called us

OUR ACTIONS & IMPACT

  • We gathered all the medical records and imaging and performed a detailed medical history with Thomas

  • We arranged an appointment with a leading spine surgeon known to be conservative about recommending surgery

  • The surgeon determined that Thomas did not need another surgery, recommended specialized physiotherapy, pain management, and other less invasive interventions by highly-trained experts

RESULTS

  • Our interventions were highly successful

    • 75% improvement of symptoms without surgery

    • >$75,000 in surgery costs avoided

  • Thomas has regained mobility and overall quality of life

CHRONIC HIP PAIN

PRESENTATION

  • An exercising accident left Mary, 43, with nerve impingement and chronic, intermittent sharp pain in her right hip that became chronic after 6 years of poor treatment

  • Mary suffered several chronic symptoms, including severe venous insufficiency, chronic pain, bilateral neuropathy, and sciatica

  • Mary had tried several treatments that did not work, including multiple pain medications, varicose vein stripping, prolotherapy, ozone and prolo- combination therapy, antidepressants, facet blocks and injections, compression stockings, and chiropractic therapy, among other medications to help with psychiatric issues that arose due to her chronic pain

OUR ACTIONS & IMPACT

  • We referred Mary to an expert rheumatologist and genetic counselor and procured genetic testing due to her hypermobility, which helped ruled out other rare autoimmune or rheumatologic conditions

  • We also referred her to an expert vascular surgeon, who diagnosed her with May Thurner’s Syndrome and recommended spinal surgery before proceeding with another previously recommended vascular surgery

  • We then referred her to an expert spine surgeon, who performed a successful lateral recess decompression that significantly relieved her pain

RESULTS

  • Mary completed her treatment and her pain has been significantly relieved

  • She can now lead her life without any restrictions
